Q1: How much INR can I obtain for personal travel to India? What documents are required for availing the allowance?
A1: You are eligible to claim up to INR 25,000/- semi annually.
Documents Required
- Copy of confirmed travel documents, if applicable
- Copy of Valid CID/Passport/Marriage Certificate card for non-Bhutanese or any other proof of being resident in Bhutan;
- Any other documentary evidence required.
Q2:How much INR can I obtain for medical travel to India? What documents are required for availing the allowance?
A2:You are eligible to claim up to INR 100,000/- per travel.
Documents Required- Copy of confirmed travel documents, if applicable
- Copy of Identity documents / any other proof of being resident in Bhutan
- Referral letter from JDWNRH for referral case and past medical documents/letter of appointment for privately sponsored patients
Q3:How much INR can I obtain for education travel to India? What documents are required for availing the allowance?
A3: You are eligible to claim up to INR 80,000/- per annum
Documents Required- Copy of confirmed travel documents, if applicable
- Copy of Valid CID/Passport or any other proof of being resident in Bhutan
- Acceptance/Letter of admission for new students and Valid Student ID Card for continuing students
- Any other documentary evidence required
Q4:How much INR can I obtain for official travel to India? What documents are required for availing the allowance?
A4:As per MoF/ Multinational Organization's rate for their employees/- per travel
Documents Required- Travel documents
- Authorisation letter of travel from relevant agencies
- Authorisation letter to debit agency's account maintained with the bank / cheque drawn
Q5:How much INR can I obtain for business travel to India? What documents are required for availing the allowance?
A5:INR 3,500 per day
Documents Required- Copy of confirmed air ticket
- Authorization letter from respective business
- Authorization of travel by respective agencies such as Department of Tourism for tour operators, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industries for private business firms, company or organization, or any other documentary proof of business related travel.
Q6:Are there any INR exchange facilities available for other purposes?
A6:Yes. Other INR exchange facility available includes the following:
a. Tour PackageYou can avail tour packages of INR 50,000/- to INR 100,000/- Per Bus.
Documents Required- Copy of confirmed travel documents
- Invoice specifying the particulars of traveler such as name, passport/CID number, date of travel and amount of fare collected
- Valid ticketing license/copy of tender awarded to the ticketing agent in case of Royal Government of Bhutan and other agencies
- Any other documentary evidence required
When exporting commodities from Bhutan, you may encounter freight and transportation expenses. To cover such costs, you can access INR 15,000/- per truck.
Documents Required- Request Letter endorsed by Bhutanese Export Association (BEA)

- Copy of Letter of Credit
- Customs Declaration form
- Any other documentary evidence required
As an exporter, you have the option to access INR to address en route overhead expenses and transportation costs. You can obtain INR 7,000/- in cash for this purpose.
Documents Required- Forwarding letter, Transit Declaration & List of vehicles all endorsed by RSTA

Foreign workers, specifically Indian nationals, are eligible to utilize the INR facility in Bhutan. Indian nationals employed in Bhutan are entitled to receive INR 6,000/- per month.
Documents Required- Construction approval from Thromde/relevant Municipal authority
- Valid CID of the employer
- Valid Work permit of the Labor
Q7:How much INR can I obtain in an international card? What documents are required for availing the allowances?
A7:Debit Card:
- ATM-INR 15,000/- per month
- POS/ECOM - INR 50,000/- per month
Credit Card: INR 150,000/- per annum
